This is decent, but I wanted more from it. The cardamom and clove give it a cozy chai vibe at first, which I actually like, and there’s a little saffron warmth that makes it feel kinda fancy. But after 20-30 mins it settles into a musky amber thing that feels pretty standard for Montale. Not bad at all, just not super memorable. I was hoping the passionfruit would pop more, but on me it’s barely there. Performance is okay, around 6 hours, projection moderate. Nice if you love spicy ambers, but I wouldn’t rush to buy a full bottle.
Tbh I don’t hear enough people talk about Pure Gold. Everyone goes for Intense Cafe or Roses Musk, but this one is so wearable and pretty. It’s apricot, vanilla, and soft musk on me, like a creamy fruity cloud. Not screechy, not syrupy, just smooth. I wore it to work and got two compliments before lunch, which almost never happens with my office-safe scents. It has that Montale lasting power but behaves nicely. Easily full bottle worthy.
This is such a mood booster. The mandarin orange gives it this bright sparkle at first, then the apricot comes in and makes everything feel warm and velvety. I don’t get much patchouli in a dirty way, it’s more like a smooth base that keeps it from being too simple. Performance is great on clothes, like next day great, but on skin it’s still comfy. If you like fruity musks that smell clean and luxurious, try this. It’s honestly beautiful.
Pure Gold is gorgeous. I get mostly apricot and musk, with a little creamy vanilla in the drydown. It’s not loud like some Montales, which I actually appreciate because it feels more classy and wearable. There’s a clean fruity softness here that reminds me a tiny bit of a softer designer fruity musk, but way more refined. I wore it to dinner and kept catching little whiffs from my scarf all night. 5/5 for me because it’s pretty, feminine, and super easy to reach for.
Okay this is dramatic, but Inexcusable Evil smells like an art installation about the end of the world. Cold rain, smoky gunpowder, and dry incense are what stand out most on my skin. Somehow it’s harsh and soft at the same time, which is wild. I love that it doesn’t try to be sexy or crowd-pleasing, it just commits fully to its mood. People around me noticed it, not always in a “you smell pretty” way, more like “what IS that?” and I respect that.
Tbh this doesn’t smell like a normal fragrance and that’s exactly why I’m obsessed. The gunpowder opening is sharp and dramatic, but the sandalwood smooths it out enough that it never feels like a gimmick. There’s also this damp air thing that makes it feel alive, like rain hitting hot pavement. I wouldn’t wear it to brunch or the office, but for nights when I want to smell unforgettable? Perfect. Lasts forever on clothes too.
Okay this one surprised me. I thought it would be another loud synthetic Montale, but it’s actually balanced beautifully. The Sicilian lemon is crisp, the white musk keeps it clean, and the vanilla/woods drydown is sooo good. It smells bright in the beginning and then turns into this warm skin-scent cloud that still projects. Lasts forever on my scarf, like next day strong. I’d recommend sampling first because Montale can be intense, but for me this is exceptional and totally bottle worthy.
Intense Starry Nights is honestly stunning. The lemon and apple opening is juicy and fresh, then that Madagascar vanilla comes through and makes it feel expensive and cozy. I usually struggle with citrus scents because they disappear in 20 minutes, but this one actually lasts all day on me. It has that Montale intensity but feels more wearable than some of their heavier oud/rose stuff. I’d wear this on a date, to dinner, even casually with a hoodie. It just smells GOOD.

Projection is strong for the first few hours, then it hangs around forever on clothes. Def one of my favorite Montales.

It feels happy, polished, and kinda sexy at the same time. Total 5/5 for me.

I’ve tested a lot of Montales and this one feels more wearable than most, but still has great longevity. I can smell it on my scarf the next day. Highly recommend if you want something pretty but not boring.
