Method
The Scento Fragrance Index is built from Scento’s own paid orders shipped to customers across Europe, using Europe/Bucharest time. Each quarter, perfumes and houses are ranked by paid decant units, counting every 0.75, 2, 5, 8 or 30 ml decant once whatever its size. Shares are each group’s part of all paid decant units.1
The index leaves out:
- cancelled and deleted orders, unpaid orders, free PR kits and replacement shipments;
- test and staff orders;
- gift-card orders and gift-card lines;
- free items such as welcome gifts, perks and samples;
- full bottles, accessories and gift sets;
- automatic repeat shipments of a legacy plan.
Any figure resting on too few orders is withheld, and a ranked perfume must clear a minimum number of separate orders. Rank changes compare with the previous quarter’s top 25. Climbers and fallers cover perfumes in the top 50 of both quarters. Q4 2025 covers 17 October to 31 December 2025, with no published top 25 or size mix. Quarterly indices use the first qualifying quarter (Q4 2025) as 100. Niche and designer follow Scento’s catalogue classification, and Scento’s own house perfumes sit outside that split. Gulf houses means houses based in the Gulf states: Amouage (Oman) and Kajal, Kayali and Widian (UAE). The index is published as ranks, shares and indices only. It is updated quarterly; the next edition covers Q4 2026.
