Tbh this shocked me because I usually find Jo Malone a bit too soft for the price, but Rose & Oud Leather actually performs. The oud is deep and smooth, the amber is cozy, and the leather gives it this sexy edge without making it too masculine. It reminds me a little of those luxe Middle Eastern rose-oud scents, but cleaner and easier to wear. Not loud beast mode, but people will smell you. I’d absolutely wear this in fall or winter nonstop.
This is probably one of the best Jo Malone releases if you like darker perfumes. The leather is polished, not smoky biker-leather, and the oud is smooth enough that even non-oud people could enjoy it. I get a warm patchouli base too, but it’s not dirty or earthy in a bad way. It smells expensive and confident, like something you’d wear to dinner when you actually made an effort. Projection is solid without choking anyone out. Honestly gorgeous.
I love this way more than I expected. It has that smooth oud and leather thing going on, but it never turns harsh or barnyard on me. Kinda feels like wearing a black leather jacket with a rose tucked in the pocket. The amber gives it this warm glow that makes it super addictive. It’s definitely not your typical light Jo Malone vibe, this one has real presence. Lasts around 7-8 hours on my skin and I kept getting little whiffs all night. Easy 5/5 for me.
I’m into this. The orange at the start is really nice, kind of zesty but not fresh-cologne style, more like candied peel sitting on top of dark tobacco. After 20 minutes it turns warm and resinous, with patchouli keeping it from becoming too smooth or boring. It’s def more elegant than playful, so I wouldn’t wear it to the gym or office every day. Great for fall nights or dressed-up situations. My small complaint is that it can feel a bit dry and serious, but overall it smells expensive and very well blended.
Yeah this smells like a private lounge with leather chairs, orange peel in an old fashioned, and someone smoking expensive tobacco. I get mostly tobacco and akigalawood, with that slightly spicy-woody edge Tom Ford does a lot. It’s not as loud as Tobacco Vanille and definitely less sweet, which I actually love. Feels smoother and easier to wear, especially at night. Projection is moderate, not beast mode, but people near you will notice. Taking off one star because the drydown gets a little flat on my skin after a while.
This is very good, just not exactly what I pictured. I thought Tobacco Chocolat would be thick, syrupy, almost dessert-like, but it’s more dry tobacco and balsamic woods with a little orange brightness up top. Honestly I prefer that because it feels grown up and not cloying. The Peru balsam gives it this soft resinous warmth that makes it feel expensive. It sits closer after a few hours but lasts on clothes forever. Not a blind buy imo, because if you want gourmand chocolate you might be disappointed.
I really like this one, but it’s not the sweet chocolate bomb I expected from the name. On me it opens with this bitter orange thing over smooth tobacco, then gets darker and woodier pretty fast. The patchouli is there but not dirty, more like giving it depth. Super classy cold weather scent, kinda Tom Ford doing that moody lounge/bar vibe again. Performance is solid too, around 7 hours with decent projection for the first couple. My only issue is I wish it had a little more richness or actual cocoa sweetness.
I’m into this, but I can see it being polarizing. The aldehydes are very noticeable at first, almost metallic-clean, and the blackcurrant gives this tart fruity edge that makes it feel less basic. After that it gets smoother with musk and a creamy sweetness. Not super sweet vanilla cupcake vibes, more like vanilla cream in the background. It has that expensive Byredo airiness, which I love, but yeah, it’s not a compliment bomb. More for you than everyone around you. Lasted about 7 hours but stayed pretty close.
This surprised me because I expected something colder and more abstract, but it’s actually really wearable. The galbanum gives it a green bite in the beginning, then the bourbon vanilla and musk make it soft and a little addictive. It kinda reminds me of those minimalist scents like Blanche, but warmer and less laundry-ish. I wouldn’t call it sexy exactly, more intimate and comforting. Performance is decent on skin, better on clothes. 4 stars because I love the mood, but I wish the green opening lasted longer instead of fading so fast.
Future Memories smells like a clean white shirt with a splash of blackcurrant cocktail on it lol. I get a lot of aldehydes up top, very sparkly and modern, then it melts into musk and a soft vanilla. It’s not gourmand to me even with the cream liqueur note, more smooth and airy. I love that it feels polished without being boring. Def office friendly but still interesting enough for dinner. Projection is moderate, not beast mode, which honestly fits the vibe. Could be stronger for the price though.
I really like this one, it has that clean Byredo thing but with a softer creamy twist. The aldehydes are bright at first, almost fizzy, then the blackcurrant comes in and keeps it from feeling too powdery. The drydown is my fave part though, kinda musky vanilla with this liqueur vibe that feels cozy but not heavy. It’s not a loud perfume, more like a stylish skin scent after an hour or two. Lasts around 6 hours on me. My only issue is the opening is a bit sharp, but once it settles it’s super pretty.
Rose & Oud Leather is really nice in that cozy-dark way. I mostly get amber and leather with a soft oud background, not the huge medicinal oud you get in some Middle Eastern-style perfumes. It’s smooth and easy to like, but still has enough edge to feel interesting. Kinda reminds me of a softer cousin to some Tom Ford private blends, but less loud. Performance is good on clothes, maybe 8 hours, weaker on skin. I’d give it 4 stars because it’s lovely, just not super unique.
This smells like a fancy black coat and good lipstick, if that makes sense lol. The patchouli gives it some depth, the leather makes it sexy, and the oud is smooth enough that it doesn’t take over. I wouldn’t call it beast mode, but people can smell it when they’re near you. It feels more dinner reservation than office day, though I guess you could pull it off lightly sprayed. Minor complaint: for the price, I wanted a little more projection. Still, I love the vibe.
If you’re scared of oud, this is actually pretty wearable. It’s more soft oud and amber than barnyard or super smoky. The leather is there but blended nicely, so it doesn’t scream masculine to me. I love how expensive it smells without being too loud. That said, I wish it had a bit more personality in the drydown because after a few hours it turns into a warm woody skin scent. Still very good though, especially in cooler weather.
I really like this one, especially for Jo Malone because it feels richer than their usual airy stuff. The leather is smooth, not harsh biker-jacket leather, and the oud gives it this dark polished vibe. I get a little amber warmth after an hour which makes it easier to wear. My only issue is the opening can feel a bit heavy and serious, like def not a casual grocery run scent. Lasts around 7 hours on me, projection is moderate. Classy, moody, and kinda addictive.
This is decent, but I expected way more from the name tbh. I get a smooth tobacco with some orange in the opening, then it turns into this woody patchouli thing that feels warm but not super memorable. It’s not bad at all, just kinda sits there. The Peru balsam gives it a nice cozy sweetness, but I wouldn’t call it rich or addictive. Performance is okay on me, like 5-6 hours, with pretty moderate projection. For Tom Ford prices, I wanted more personality. Nice if you like soft tobacco scents, but not a must-have.
Future Memories is kinda interesting at first — I get this fizzy aldehyde thing mixed with blackcurrant, almost like clean skin with a tart little berry edge. Then it turns musky and slightly creamy, but the bourbon vanilla/liqueur vibe is way softer than I expected. It’s pleasant and easy to wear, just not super memorable on me, which is funny given the name lol. Projection is pretty close and it lasted maybe 5-6 hours. I like it, but for Byredo prices I wanted more personality.
This one grabbed me immediately. It’s soft but confident, and I love how the pink pepper cuts through the darker amber so it never feels too thick. The patchouli is there but very smooth, not dirty or hippie at all. To me it smells intimate, classy, and a bit mysterious, like something you’d wear when you want people to lean in and ask what it is. I got two compliments the first day wearing it, which rarely happens with Byredo on me. Pricey, yes, but this actually feels special enough.
If you’re expecting a fresh garden rose, this isn’t that. This is darker, spicier, and way more interesting. The blackcurrant gives it this tart opening that I’m obsessed with, and then the amber gets warm and smooth on skin. It kinda has that modern niche vibe like MFK or Le Labo, but still very Byredo — clean edges, no heaviness. I think it’s super wearable though, even with the darker base. Performance is surprisingly good too, like 7-9 hours on me. I’d wear this year round, honestly.
Okay this smells expensive in the best way. Not loud millionaire lobby expensive, more like someone with great taste wearing cashmere and not trying too hard. I mostly get saffron, blackcurrant, and a dark ambery base. It’s smooth, slightly fruity, slightly spicy, and really addictive up close. There’s a clean dryness too, maybe the papyrus, that keeps it from becoming syrupy. I wore it to dinner and kept catching little whiffs all night. Easy 5/5 for me, especially because it feels unique without being weird or hard to wear.
