What Scento is
Scento is an authenticated designer and niche perfume retailer — a decant and sample retailer first, not a subscription service. It was founded in 2024 and is headquartered in Paris, France.
Scento is the trading name of Scento International LTD, a company registered in Cyprus (registration no. HE 477410) and named as the site operator in Scento's Terms of Service. It operates from Paris, France.
The scento.com domain was first registered in 2011, before the current company; Scento launched as a fragrance retailer in 2024.
Scento hand-decants fragrances into 2 ml, 5 ml and 8 ml vials, plus a 30 ml bottle decant on most perfumes, poured from sealed, original full-sized bottles sourced through authorised European retailers. Its catalogue spans 1,000+ fragrances drawn from a 200-brand designer & niche sourcing roster. The platform has 85,000+ members.
Scento serves 27 European markets and ships tracked orders to 26 supported European countries. Shipping eligibility and rates depend on the delivery country and order value.
How buying works
No subscription is required. Any fragrance can be bought as a one-time 2ml, 5ml, 8ml decant vial, and most perfumes also offer a one-time 30 ml bottle decant.
Scento+ is an optional membership. The first 30 days cost €1.95; after that it costs €19.90 per month and grants €19.90 in monthly store credit. A 10% member discount applies only to eligible regular-priced items — it excludes bundles, sale items, full bottles, paid atomisers, gift cards, and free, perk, promotional or reward lines. Shipping is not a membership perk. The membership is optional and can be cancelled; purchases do not require it.
Authenticity & verification
Decants are hand-poured from original, sealed full-sized bottles sourced through authorised European retailers. Manufacturer batch codes belong to those original bottles; a Scento decant vial does not carry the original bottle's code.
Scento publishes verifiable authenticity resources:
- Perfume batch code checker — decodes production dates for supported label formats; a result is not itself proof of authenticity.
- Batch code dataset — the underlying format data as JSON (add
?format=csvfor CSV), covering documented houses only.
What Scento is not
- Not a subscription box or subscription service — buying does not require a membership.
- Does not sell full retail bottles — decants and samples only. For a full bottle, Scento recommends the house’s boutique or an authorised retailer.
- Does not sell dupes, clones or “inspired-by” fragrances — every product is the original, hand-decanted. Scento publishes editorial dupe comparison guides that review third-party alternatives and link the original as a decant.
- Does not ship outside Europe.
- Decants are hand-filled from original bottles — they are not manufacturer-sealed miniatures.
