1 Million Parfum by Rabanne

Launched in 2020 by Quentin Bisch, Christophe Raynaud and Sonia Constant, this version swaps the sweetness for salt and sun: tuberose, solar notes, salt and monoi oil, then ambergris, leather, cashmeran, labdanum and pine.¹⁰ Bisch said the idea came from an accident: two bottles broken in his leather bag after a holiday, one of them sunscreen and the other a sample of cistus.¹⁰ It suits readers who like the leather but want something less sugary. 1 Million Parfum as a 2 ml decant (€6.90)

1 Million Black by Rabanne

The newest pillar. 1 Million Night Elixir by Rabanne

A 2026 limited edition eau de parfum: “For the first time, our iconic gold bar is dressed in black.”¹² Mandarin, bergamot and lemon open, with maple syrup, cinnamon and lavender in the heart over vanilla, benzoin and labdanum.¹² It is the most dessert-like of the four and one for the colder months. Invictus: from fresh to elixir

Invictus is the fresh counterpoint to 1 Million. The name is Latin for “invincible”, and the bottle is in the shape of a trophy.¹³ Three versions show how the same idea changes with concentration.

Launched in July 2013 with a “marine accord plus notes of grapefruit zest and bay leaf”.¹³ The pyramid runs from sea notes, grapefruit and mandarin through bay leaf and jasmine to ambergris, guaiac wood, oakmoss and patchouli.¹³ IFF’s Véronique Nyberg composed it with Anne Flipo, Olivier Polge and Dominique Ropion.¹³ It is the warm-weather choice of the house. The warm end of the franchise, from 2023, made by Domitille Michalon-Bertier, Anne Flipo and Nicolas Beaulieu. Lavender, cardamom and black pepper open; incense and patchouli follow; vanilla and tonka bean close.¹⁵ L’Officiel UK notes incense “hand-harvested in Somaliland” and vanilla bean “sourced in Madagascar”, and Michalon-Bertier said, “I worked the tonka bean like a liqueur.”¹⁵ It suits autumn and winter evenings. Phantom: lavender and vanilla

Phantom, the robot-shaped bottle, began in 2021 as the house’s first connected fragrance, with “a contactless communication NFC chip” embedded in the spray caps of the 100 ml and 150 ml bottles.¹⁶ The original was described as “creamy lavender, energizing lemon, and woody vanilla”.¹⁶ Rabanne also sells a refill, which it says saves 63% of plastic and 47% of glass.⁴

Phantom Parfum by Rabanne

A 2023 composition by Juliette Karagueuzoglou, Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo. It opens with cardamom, bergamot, rhubarb and lemon, moves to lavender, cedarwood, patchouli and geranium, and rests on vanilla, tolu balsam and Haitian vetiver.¹⁷ Fragrantica cites French lavender and black vanilla bean from Madagascar, and a bottle “given a black matte finish”.¹⁷ It is a good all-rounder for cooler weather. Created in 2010 by IFF’s Anne Flipo, Béatrice Piquet and Dominique Ropion.² Raspberry, neroli and lemon open, jasmine, orange blossom and gardenia form the heart, and white honey, patchouli and amber close.¹⁹ The bottle was designed as a golden diamond by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance.¹⁹ At launch, the 50 ml and 80 ml sizes were priced at around €52 and €68 respectively in travel retail (2010 prices).² It suits anyone who likes sweet, fruity florals with a honeyed base.
