Taormina Orange at a glance
Taormina Orange belongs to Tom Ford’s Private Blend collection. Now Smell This reported on 3 March 2026 that Tom Ford would launch it later that month.8 Fragrantica’s news desk dates the expansion of the line to April 2026, while Olfastory says it was available at Sephora from 12 March 2026.9,10 The sources differ by a few weeks, so treat spring 2026 as the launch window.
Curious? Try Tom Ford Taormina Orange as a decant, from €14.90Try itFragrantica classes it as a Citrus Aromatic fragrance for women and men and credits Anne Flipo as the nose. It files the perfume under the collection “Private Blend Neroli Portofino”.1 The bottle plays on the same sea theme: Fragrantica describes “turquoise tones for the sea below Taormina’s cliffs, and gold accents to mirror the warmth of the Sicilian sun”.9
The official US price is $300.00 for 1.7 fl oz (50 ml), as read on 4 November 2026. Tom Ford also lists 0.34 fl oz, 1.0 fl oz and 3.4 fl oz sizes, with no prices shown.2
The notes and how it opens
Tom Ford describes it as a citrus woody fragrance that “captures the blood orange groves, crisp winds and dramatic sea vistas of Sicily”. Its key notes are Blood Orange Sicily, Cardamom Oil, Orange Flower Absolute, Orange Bigarade Oil, Patchouli Oil and Oakmoss Absolute.2 Orange bigarade is the bitter orange, so the citrus here is sharper and more peel-like than a sweet orange would be. If bright Italian citrus is what draws you in, our guide to how Italian citrus opens fragrances covers the family.
Fragrantica lays the notes out as a pyramid. Its top notes are blood orange, green mandarin, lime and cardamom, with bitter orange and orange blossom in the heart.1 The official list is the safer guide to what the perfumer intended, and Fragrantica’s version is a useful picture of the order in which you meet them.
The base is where Taormina Orange parts from a simple cologne. Tom Ford writes that “earthy oakmoss and salt-skin musks entwine with citrus, grounding the fruit in an alfresco warmth”.2 Grazia’s beauty director Rachael Martin says the notes of patchouli and oakmoss “give the scent its herbaceous, earthy edge. Green - but not too green.”6 Anne Flipo describes the whole as a blend of iconic citrus notes and an elegant musky signature that evokes sun-warmed skin after a day in the Mediterranean.9
Individual noses pick out different things. One Parfumo reviewer smelled neroli, petitgrain, basil and cedar.4 Those are that reviewer’s perceptions rather than listed notes, but they show how green and aromatic the orange can read on skin.
How it wears through the day
The opening is the loudest part. Joshua Graham of Attitude wrote that “the luminous opening of Taormina Orange lasted an impressive hour on skin before easing into its earthy base”, gradually drawing closer to a skin scent after four hours.3 In the same piece Anne Flipo says of the blood orange note: “You want to bite into it – it is so enticing.”3
After that first hour the orange blossom and bitter orange of the heart sit alongside the patchouli and oakmoss.1,2 Grazia says the patchouli and oakmoss give it an “herbaceous, earthy edge. Green - but not too green.”6 Attitude says the sparkly opening gives way to a salt-inflected musk that lingers close to the skin, which matches the sun-warmed skin picture Flipo paints.3,9
Put simply, expect a bright first hour, then a calmer green, mossy citrus; reviewers disagree on how far it carries.
Longevity and projection: what reviewers report
Reviewers disagree on how long it lasts, and the range is wide enough to be worth laying out in full.
- Attitude: the luminous opening lasted about an hour, and the scent was close to a skin scent after four hours.3
- A Parfumo reviewer: “The longevity on my skin is a maximum of 4 to 5 hours.”4
- A second Parfumo reviewer: “Projection is strong for the first hour before sitting closer to the skin for 6-8 hours”, and two sprays to the neck “were still noticeable after 12 hours albeit a skin scent”.5
- Grazia lists “Long lasting” among its pros.6
- Several Fragrantica reviewers report the scent fading within about two hours, some within 20 minutes.1
The honest summary is that the bright citrus opening fades within roughly the first hour, and what remains depends on your skin. Some people keep a faint musky skin scent for most of a day, others lose it within a couple of hours. Citrus top notes are light and evaporate quickly, which is a likely reason the opening is the shortest-lived part, though that is reasoning rather than a measurement.
Tom Ford’s own application advice is to spray once or twice on clean skin on the desired areas, and not to rub the fragrance in, as this will alter how it develops.2 With reports this far apart, a test on your own skin tells you more than any review.
Who it suits and when to wear it
Fragrantica lists it for women and men, Olfastory calls it a unisex Eau de Parfum, and Grazia lists “Suited to both men and women” among its pros.1,10,6 One Parfumo reviewer felt the scent “leans masculine” and called it suitable “for an office”.5 The sensible reading is that it is a unisex citrus that leans earthy and green, so it may feel slightly more classic on some noses than on others.
It is built for warmth. Attitude’s writer suspects it is “the perfect complement to the heart of summer”.3 A Parfumo reviewer recommends it for temperatures above 25 degrees.4 The oakmoss and patchouli base gives it more depth than a plain cologne, which makes it a reasonable choice for a warm office day as well as a beach afternoon. Taormina Orange vs other Tom Ford citrus perfumes
Taormina Orange sits in a family of Tom Ford citrus and Mediterranean perfumes. The table sets nine of them side by side, with launch years, perfumers where a source names one, key notes and Scento’s 2 ml and 8 ml decant prices. Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford
The closest relative. Neroli Portofino launched in 2011 and was composed by Rodrigo Flores-Roux, with bergamot, mandarin, lemon and bitter orange on top, orange flower, neroli and jasmine in the heart, and amber, ambrette and angelica underneath.7 Grazia says the orange blossom in the heart will be “instantly recognisable” to anyone familiar with Neroli Portofino.6 Attitude puts the difference plainly: “Taormina Orange feels more naturalistic and citrus-forward.”3 Choose Neroli Portofino for floral, amber warmth and Taormina Orange for earthier orange peel. Neroli Portofino as a 2 ml decant (€16.90).
Mandarino di Amalfi by Tom Ford
Launched in 2014 and composed by Calice Becker, it pairs lemon and grapefruit with mint, basil and tarragon, then orange blossom, jasmine, clary sage and shiso, over musk, vetiver and amber.11 The herb list makes it greener and more aromatic than Taormina Orange, which keeps its attention on orange and moss. Mandarino di Amalfi as a 2 ml decant (€15.90).
Azure Lime by Tom Ford
Antoine Lie and Ellen Molner created it in 2010 around a lime-water accord, green aromatics, sandalwood and musk.12 It is the crispest and most watery of the group, the one to try if Taormina Orange’s moss feels too heavy. It is also priced like Taormina Orange: €14.90 for 2 ml and €44.90 for 8 ml.
Bitter Peach by Tom Ford
Bitter Peach shares a start with Taormina Orange. Fragrantica lists its top notes as peach, blood orange and cardamom, and says it was officially released in early October 2020.15 After that opening it turns to rum, cognac and davana, then vanilla, patchouli and sandalwood, so it is far sweeter and boozier than Taormina Orange.15 Bitter Peach as a 2 ml decant (€19.90).
Soleil Blanc by Tom Ford and its sunny cousins
These four are the warmer Mediterranean cousins. Soleil Blanc launched in 2016 with pistachio and bergamot over tuberose and a coconut, amber and tonka base.14 Eau de Soleil Blanc followed at the beginning of 2018 and puts bitter orange, neroli and cardamom ahead of tuberose and coconut.13 Soleil de Feu came out in spring 2023 with tuberose, sandalwood, benzoin and amber.16 Figue Érotique, launched in 2025, wraps fig leaf, fig and salt around brown sugar, patchouli and vetiver.17 If you like Taormina Orange’s sunny feel but want creamier, more floral wear, Eau de Soleil Blanc is the nearest, at €11.90 for 2 ml.
Prices and how to try it
Because longevity reports differ so much, the practical way to decide is to wear it. Scento sells Taormina Orange as a 2 ml vial for €14.90, a 5 ml vial for €29.50 and an 8 ml vial for €44.90. The official full-size price for comparison is $300.00 for 50 ml.2 A decant lets you find out whether the scent works on you before you commit to a bottle.
Most paid decant units are 2 ml vials. In the Scento Fragrance Index, covering Europe from October 2025 to September 2026, 2 ml vials make up 76% of paid decant units, against 11% for 5 ml and 9.5% for 8 ml. In the same window Tom Ford ranks sixth among houses by share of paid decant units, at 4.5%. Taormina Orange launched inside that window and has no rank of its own.

How we compiled this
We read Tom Ford’s own product page, trade and fragrance press, Fragrantica and Olfastory entries and two Parfumo community reviews on 4 November 2026. Longevity figures are individual impressions from reviewers, not laboratory tests, which is why we show the full range. The comparison table covers Tom Ford citrus and Mediterranean perfumes that Scento stocks as decants, chosen by shared notes and launch period. Own-data figures come from the Scento Fragrance Index for Europe, October 2025 to September 2026, and are shares and ranks only. Prices are Scento’s retail prices for 2 ml, 5 ml and 8 ml vials.
