Christian Dior established his couture house at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris in December 1946, and on 12 February 1947 unveiled the silhouette Harper's Bazaar christened the "New Look." Perfume was part of the vision from the start: Miss Dior, named for his sister Catherine, was sprayed through the salons on the day of that first show.
