Matière Première is a French niche house founded in Paris in 2019 by perfumer Aurélien Guichard, a member of a Grasse perfumery dynasty and the son of renowned nose Jean Guichard. True to its name, which means 'raw material,' the house builds each fragrance around a single central natural ingredient used in overdose—an exceptional 'farm-to-bottle' approach made possible by the Centifolia roses and other flowers Guichard cultivates on his own fields near Grasse.
