Xerjoff was founded in Turin in 2007 by Sergio Momo, a Turin-born painter and designer who studied perfumery in Grasse before turning his eye for graphics toward fragrance. The house name fuses 'Joff' — a childhood nickname — with the 'Sir' his London colleagues used, and from the first 17/17 Stone Label collection it set out to pair rare materials with collectible, jewel-like presentation.
The brand's signature flacon cap is modelled on the Deshret, the Egyptian Red Crown, inspired by the Egyptian Museum in Turin and designed by co-founder Dominique Salvo. Early limited collections embellished with semi-precious stones, meteorite fragments and gold-plated caps established Xerjoff's place at the luxurious, artistic end of niche perfumery.
In 2009 Momo revived Casamorati, a historic Bologna perfume house first registered in 1888, recreating its Art Nouveau spirit and original flacon design as a line within Xerjoff.
